INGRID MATTSSON, Vocals, Keys, Percussion
Ingrid brings her high energy and classically trained voice to the stage, singing songs from artists as varied as Madonna, Linda Ronstadt, Pink, Heart, Grace Potter, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Benatar, Led Zeppelin and many more.
Ingrid has been singing since high school choir and studied voice at the New School in Manhattan. In addition to plenty of Open-Mike nights, Ingrid created two cabaret shows in NYC and played the lead role of Prudie Cupp in Pump Boys & Dinettes for a community theater show in Texas.
Ingrid is also a Full Voice Coach helping people discover their complete vocal toolbox to enhance and empower their presentations, performance and overall communications.
In more ways than one, Ingrid is the glue that holds the band together--and keeps us on task!
JIM MENGES, Guitars, Vocals
Jim is very active in the Twin Cities music scene. 5 Speedz is by no means his first rodeo; he has many years of experience playing in bands. He plays engaging rhythms and scorching solos, and he even takes on lead vocals on occasion! When he's not practicing or performing with 5 Speedz, you're likely to see him running live sound all over the metro area and beyond, making local, regional and national acts sound great in bars, clubs, and music festivals. In his precious little down time, you might find him at the gym or on the golf course.
PHIL DONOVAN, Drums, Vocals
Phil is the backbone of our rhythm section, the one the rest of us follow. Vocally, he's our go-to guy for songs by John Mellencamp, Kid Rock and Sublime, to name but a few. Phil, too, has endless energy on stage. Watch closely, and you might catch Phil in an “Animal” moment behind the kit.When not on stage with 5 Speedz, you might catch Phil drumming for one of his other bands, or maybe teeing off with Jim.
MATT HUTCHINSON, Bass, Vocals, Keys, Programming
Like Jim, Matt was playing '80s music in bands in the ’80s! Besides playing the bass and singing, he dabbles in keys as well, and he records and arranges the backing tracks that we sometimes use to round out our live sound. “Africa” and “I Can't Go for That/No Can Do” are examples of tracks that Matt recorded in their entirety.
Matt also has excellent ear training and is able to identify and in many cases reproduce all musical components of songs.
